| Meeting Room Policy (summation) | In accord with its Mission Statement, the Library's Board of Trustees has determined that the Library's facilities, the Mark Twain Room in particular, should be made available to the Redding community which the Library serves for the educational, social and recreational purposes to which the Library is dedicated. The Board subscribes to Article IV of the Library Bill of Rights which states that facilities should be made available to the public served by the Library on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use.
The Mark Twain Room has a seating capacity of 65. The New Adult Reading Room seats 100. A written and signed application for use of either room is required, and may be originated and submitted at the Circulation Desk. Proof of liability insurance with the library named as a payee may be required prior to use of a room. Room rental fees apply for profit organizations: When the library is open, $50.00 for the first two hours and $25.00 for each additional hour. When the library is closed, $100.00 for the first two hours plus $25.00 for each additional hour. (In the latter circumstance, the Library Director may set a fee to cover the cost of any personnel in tending the building.) Rules of use are on record at the library. No group may schedule more than one event in a calendar month. No group may schedule use of a room more than three months in advance. In the event that no fee is charged, donations to the Library are welcomed and encouraged. |

| Unattended Child Policy | Children are welcomed and encouraged to use the Mark Twain Library. In order to maintain a safe environment, and for the protection and well-being of young children enjoying the library, these guidelines have been established:
Parents and guardians are responsible for the conduct of their children on library premises. An adult must accompany preschool children at all times. No child under age 10 may be left alone in the library for any reason. Parents and gurdians should be aware of library hours and make arrangements to meet and transport children ages 10 and up who have been left unattended at the library. Children still at the library at closing time will be directed to call their parents from the library's phone. If they are still unable to get home, the police will be contacted if necessary. The library is not responsible for children outside the building. |

| Collection Development (excerpt from Section VI) | "This library is guided in its selection policy and in all its activities by the "Library Bill of Rights" and the "Freedom to Read" statement published by the American Library Association." Every effort is made to provide the best materials and collections with attention to all of the related criteria covered in the three page policy adopted November 19, 2001 (available at the Circulation Desk).
