And the award goes to... Dan DeSalva. This competitive annual scholarship is sponsored by the library to honor the memory of Mark Twain; JBHS seniors are asked to submit a piece of work that reflects their "wit and wisdom". Click here to to read this years winning essay.
We are pleased to launch the new Mark Twain Library website. Our services and resources will now be easier for you to access and use; look here, too, for more information on the programs and activities we offer.
The staff website committee thanks Heather Morgan and the Board of Trustees for their commitment to improved communication, and sends a big shout-out to Sandi O'Reilly for her graphic design skills and Brent Colley of Colley Web Services, LLC for his web design expertise.
(Please note that the next few weeks will be a "shake-down cruise" for the site as we fine-tune the navigation, clean up typos, and add web links here and there. Address any functionality problems or questions to Linda Brandler and any content concerns or questions to Mary Hoskinson-Dean.)
Now that the Mark Twain Library is part of the
Bibliomation Library consortium, our library patrons can easily
monitor and access their library accounts from home via the Internet.
This enhanced level of service is allowing the Library to make some
important changes to reduce the costs associated with handling overdue
and lost library items.
As of March 1,
Patrons receiving notices from the library by USPS
mail
will no longer receive 2-week or 4-week overdue
notices, but if items are still overdue after 6 weeks, a bill
for the items will be sent by USPS mail.
Patrons receiving notices from the library by e-mail
will continue to receive 2-week and 4-week overdue
notices by e-mail; if items are still overdue after 6 weeks, a
bill for the items will be sent by e-mail
If you would like to receive notices by e-mail,
please contact the library and we will update your account for you.
Now it's easy to avoid overdue fines! Just be sure
you are signed up for e-mail notices from the library, and you will
receive Due Date Alerts, e-mail reminders that will arrive at least
24 hours ahead of time to tell you that you have an item due.
That's not the only account alert you will receive.
When a book or movie that you have requested arrives at the library,
you will immediately be sent an e-mail notice that it has arrived
and how long it will be held for you.
And if you do forget to return or renew a library
item by its due date, you will receive e-mail overdue notices every
two weeks.
